It just so happens, Elon Musk did, too… in fact, they are building a 5 billion dollar Gigawatt factory next to it!

While showing off Tesla’s Gigafactory in the Nevada desert last year, its designers showed the journalists at QZ.com a curious thing:

"One side of the factory’s massive wall could be opened up to receive lithium ore one day. Tesla said that the facility had been built with an eye toward receiving raw lithium material on one side and producing a finished battery pack on the other."

The only operating lithium mine in the U.S. is essentially next door in Arizona.

WOW!

Lithium is used in countless applications from cell phones, to airplanes and batteries everywhere! (Just do a search of use cases on wikipedia and you will see.) Do you need more proof?
